What does the KTM 890 Duke GP come with to earn the extra two letters at the end of its name? Some paint orange.
We’re not entirely sure that the “bold new graphics” warrant a distinct model designation in KTM’s lineup, especially as the KTM 890 Duke R is becoming more of a track and bike engine popular racing and could use several sets for that purpose, but here we are.
Of course, the Austrians see the world differently, and they are drawing their world with orange markers.
As such, the big ticket categories on the KTM 890 Duke GP 2022 include “GP-derived orange” (glance and you’ll see it) along with new passenger seat covers. Rather disappointing.
The good news, however, is that powering the KTM 890 Duke GP motorcycle is the same 890cc tandem engine found in the rest of the base 890 Duke model. This means 114 hp (85 kW) with 69 lbs • ft (92 Nm) of torque coming from the engine, packed into a bike that weighs 373 lbs (169 kg) no energy saving.
Powerful and fun engines paired with a light and agile chassis keep the KTM 890 Duke and its deadly weapons on the streets, in the canyons and on the track.
Make no mistake, the KTM 890 Duke remains one of our favorite sport bikes on the market, offering excellent value for riders.
With that said, we’re not sure what’s going on in KTM’s marketing with these 890 Duke editions – the special GP name interesting decision.
The bike launching today is a bit flawed, in terms of what it means to be a release, but hopefully some missed expectations that I’ll be sure to raise in the comments section below will help. showed KTM that 890 Duke riders wanted a track/race-ready version of this machine.
As for pricing and availability, there’s no word yet, but we’d expect a modest increase on the base model KTM 890 Duke on which this mode is based.
