2022 3M Expansion Ratios, Fields: Surprising PGA Picks, Predictions From Golf Model Nailed Eight Majors

The PGA Tour will travel to Minnesota this week for the 3M Open 2022, marking the tournament’s fourth edition. Matthew Wolf (2019), Michael Thompson (2020) and Cameron Champ (2021) are all long shot in their respective 3M Open wins, so should you aim for long odds with 3M Open 2022 bets your own? There are some top big names in the 3M Open space, including Tony Finau, Hideki Matsuyama and Sungjae Im. Finau is the 12-1 favorite in the latest 2022 3M Open odds at Caesars Sportsbook, with Matsuyama (16-1) and Im (18-1) next in line.

While golfers returning from the Open Championship at St. Andrews may have a talent advantage, they will have to compete with golfers who have rested in the United States. Some of the lower-ranked participants are also battling for a spot in next month’s FedEx Cup Playoffs, giving them extra motivation. Before closing your 3M Open 2022 options, make sure see PGA Tour predictions and betting tips from SportsLine’s proven golf model.

The SportsLine-exclusive model, built by DFS pro Mike McClure, has been a hit since the PGA Tour resumed in June 2020. In fact, the model has raised more than $10,300 in installments. Best bet since restart, tournament after tournament.

McClure’s model included JT Poston in the best bets to win the John Deere Classic 2022. That bet hit +5500 and for the entire tournament McClure’s best bets paid out. close to $1,100. At the 2022 Masters, McClure’s pattern was all of Scottie Scheffler’s career-first major championship wins over the weekend.

Beyond that, McClure’s best bets include Collin Morikawa winning the 2021 Open Championship outright, though he ranks among the huge 40-1 rangers. The model was also all-in on Jon Rahm’s career first major championship win (10-1) at the US Open 2021. Rahm was two headers from the leader at the weekend, but the model still predict he is the winner.

This same model also nailed a whopping eight majors over the weekend. Anyone who has been following it has noticed huge profits.

Now that the 3M Open 2022 field is locked, SportsLine has simulated the tournament 10,000 times and the results are surprising. Visit SportsLine now to see the expected standings.

3M Open 2022 Top Predictions

One big surprise this model is calling for at the 3M Open 2022: Finau, a two-time PGA Tour champion and Vegas favorite, can’t win it all and barely make it top 5. Despite shooting 66 on Sunday of the British Open, Finau only finished 28th at St. Andrews, this is still his best performance at any pro tournament this year. He’s missed as many (five) as the top 25 finish in the 2021-22 PGA Tour season and finished 28th at the event last year.

Finau has always been on the teeing ground but his accuracy has been a victim this year. He ranked only 144th in driving accuracy percentage (57.02), which could be detrimental to a course with 99 different hazards. Additionally, Finau is having the worst hitting season of his career, ranking 148th in strokes: putts (-.146). He is not a strong pick to win all and much better value in the field of 3M Open 2022.

Another surprise: Adam Long, a 35-1 long-range shot, produces a powerful hit at the title. Long has been successful at this event before, taking the runner-up at the 2020 tournament with a score of 17 below par. He slashed the numbers and was outside the top 50 by half point of the event, but he was red hot at the interval.

Long is also participating in the 3M Open 2022 in good form, finishing in the top 15 at the John Deere Classic. He’s made the top 15 in three of his last nine tournaments, and this will be a weaker-than-usual court. Long is 14th on the PGA Tour in strokes: put, which should give him a great chance to finish on the leaderboard. See who else to choose here.
