Hills’ sensitive skin and stomach are a good starting point, but there are 2 levels of Hills prescription diets above for the really bad ones. Those are Hills i/d and Hills z/d. Currently, I am feeding my daughter with lifelong digestive problems (now 13) Hills z/d with cooked turkey breast and cooked sweet potato, on the advice of a veterinarian as a remedy. last book on continuous antibiotics (metronitizole), and so far it’s worked well, but it’s an exercise and elimination process.

Mine had digestive problems all his life. We’ve tried so many brands over the years from vet-recommended dry foods you buy at the grocery store, fresh freeze-dried foods, to raw diets… he seems fine. some time before the digestive upset starts again. The vet recently started us on a hill science diet that supports the wet food digestive tract and so far he loves it and is doing great with it. It’s expensive but I’m used to spending a lot on his food. He seems to have more energy and no problems so far.

Purina Pro Plan for sensitive stomachs. Use both dry grains and wet meats. Or use a food with limited ingredients, Nutro is a good name for limited ingredients. I used it for my Schipperke years ago. Hills Science Diet is something vets use after surgery but I think it’s a prescription food.

Well, there are some small grain foods but I feed both of my bc the same food that I would. I make a giant crockpot every week or so (10 liters) and freeze it (they take 2 cups each) and I try to keep a substantial amount in the freezer so it goes in a rotating fashion. They have ground turkey and ground beef with Quinoa, rice, broccoli, cauliflower, peas, carrots, celery, yams. When serving, I add bone meal (not the garden variety), 1/2 teaspoon ground eggshell (calcium), and salmon oil. You have to calculate the amount for the dogs to get enough protein but it works fine because I had no problems figuring it out and I’m not a brain surgeon! No stomach problems at all. Royal Canin Gastrointestinal low fat – is a dry food. My girl gets gastritis if she eats a lot of other things and this is what I feed her and she loves it. I also gave her a small amount of Prime (very lean) wild boar roll that I bought from our vet. She loves it

Cook your own dog food: one packet of chicken liver, one cup of rice, and one cup of frozen peas and carrots, put all ingredients in a pot with 2 1/2 cups of water. Bring to a boil and then reduce heat. When the rice is cooked, add the liver, stir well and shred the liver, let it cool. This process should last for three or four days depending on how many dogs you have.

Been there doing it…do it myself. Pressure cooker some ground meat with sweet potatoes, brown rice, and some water or chicken broth for about 10 minutes. Then, add your frozen vegetables (carrot green beans, broccoli, cauliflower, peas) and pressure cook for another 10 minutes. I cook 3 lbs of 1.5 C meat and fill it with vegetables after the first 10 minutes of each cooking and freezing.

Sensitive stomachs are sometimes hard to deal with.

#1, no morsels, especially fatty ones. if they deserve a reward, use good quality delicacies.

#2, looking for a good quality food. Cheap supermarket brands are horribly diet wise. you will pay more for good quality food. look at the ingredients. If the first items are corn or grain, put them back on the shelf. there are some decent brands. Blue Buffalo can be a good choice; Personally, I prefer the Taste of the Wild brand.

#3 Avoid changing their diet as much as possible. if you have to switch flavors, at least try to keep the same brand and if possible, mix it with the old flavors for a few days so they can adjust to the new ratio.

#4 avoid overfeeding. Many baby mice will eat everything you put in front of them, when they shouldn’t. try splitting their meals into two or even three times a day.

#5 consider the conditions where they are eating. My own rescue dog thinks eating is a group activity; she won’t eat unless we’re eating too. She’s also a bit socially insecure, she doesn’t like being away from us, so leave her plate of food in another room, she’ll get hungry. My former BC was willing to eat and then come join us, but he is a lot more confident in himself and his place in the house.
