19-year-old dog given near the end of his life to a ‘permanent’ home
Ace’s final days were spent with the Sonoma County shelter, where he was turned in at the age of 19. It was also around this time that the California wildfires began to burn out of control. He ended up at SPCA more than 150 miles away with little chance of survival. But adoptive mother Bonnie noticed that he seemed to be full of energy and realized that she had to do something about it.

She volunteered to bring the elderly dog into her home until she found a permanent home for him. Ace will become more and more comfortable over time, and he will begin to molt. After that, he socialized with other pets in the house.

REMOVEThere’s a problem: Ace has health problems that make adopting another dog impossible for him. Adoption applications started coming to Ace after that. Bonnie felt sorry to hear how much she would miss him when he was gone, but it was because of this that he “failed” as an adopted son! Bonnie decides to adopt him so he can spend the rest of his days with her, where she knows he will be happy and safe.
