The kitchen is a place to socialize as well as cook, (hello, open floor plan), so clean up spills and crumbs from counters, as well as outside stains from the microwave, dishwasher cups, stovetops and refrigerators. Clean any surfaces that your guests can see. And of course, put any dirty dishes in the dishwasher.
