There are countless ways to ring in the New Year. You can do it wear clothes and spend the night with the group. You can book an enviable spot at one of the the city’s best restaurant. Or, if you’re like me and don’t want to change your sweat (your fashion sweat, mind you), you’re at home here in NYE. To help all those who love our homeland celebrate the countdown to midnight, I’ve rounded up the best New Year’s Eve party ideas for an unforgettable night at home.
Although the night-sleeping option may have felt FOMO, I haven’t worried about missing out since before March 2020. Sure, a few minutes scrolling through social media can make me wish I had a big trip or a night on town already. plan. But since the start of the pandemic, I’ve worked hard to cultivate a sense of confidence in my decisions to do what’s best for me. That means releasing the pressure for me Eve become *great. * Instead, I’m celebrating the way I want to: at home and inspired by one of the ideas below.
Because staying overnight doesn’t have to feel like a consolation prize. Host an elegant dinner party
Never a bad idea for New Year’s Eve. This is a great option if you still want to dress up but don’t want the hassle of going out (too cold, too expensive, too… not my house). And just because it’s elegant, doesn’t mean it has to be difficult to prepare. Make some arrangements yourself (Trader Joe’s is my go-to place for quick flowers), scatter some tea lights throughout your space and place your dream table scene. And while you can make your own three-course meal, you can also order from your favorite fancy restaurant.
Make all your favorite comfort foods
New Year’s Eve is about fulfillment, and it’s not a party without your favorite treats. Host a few friends for the evening? Pre-settle a few recipes (cheese is better, in my opinion) and into the kitchen together. If you’re after it, make it a trick! Ask guests to bring their ride-on or dying comfort food (mine mashed potato) and add to the party. You may want to include a nap before midnight in your party plans
Set up an indoor campsite
Make the most of the great space in your home! Gather your camping gear (tents, sleeping bags, etc.) and prepare for the most fun evening ever. Short one or two tents? Do like Vacations and let your imagination run wild with pillows, blankets and cushions from around the house. And remember: The indoor camping experience wouldn’t be complete without movies, games, and snacks.
Make it all about bubbles
Happy New Year with something fun and filling in your glass? My kind of party. Raise a toast at midnight by setting up a DIY champagne bar or try one of these Champagne cocktails. All that’s really left is to make decoration of celebration As flashy and glamorous as your drink.

This is a great party option if you want to start the celebration a little later in the evening. Lay out an all-you-can-eat buffet and ask guests to contribute their favorites to popularity. Ask people to bring their favorite items nail polish color and gather all your supplies for manicures, pedicures, etc. An easy way to step (literally) into the New Year feeling your best.
Fancy party fondue
Retro in all the right ways. Fondue is easy to make and is a great way to pack dinner and dessert into one. Cheese and chocolate are the best combination my taste buds know, and by ordering a variety of dips, you’re sure to please everyone.
Marathon All the best movies of the year
Because I usually go to bed before 9 p.m. (hey, all the great kids are doing it), I usually just watch a movie after dinner before the cold goes away. But since our bedtime is extended into New Year’s Eve, you’ll have plenty of time to go through a million (okay, maybe three or four) movies before the clock strikes midnight. Round up the list of all the best movies of the year and start your binge-watching.
Wine Tasting With Friends
Sipping on new wines is reason enough to throw a party, but it’s also a fun way to whet your appetite (haha!) for next year. Put together one cheese board, offer a few bottles, and ask your guests to bring a wine or two that they’ve died to try. Compare notes or just sip and party. New year, meet your new glasses.
Celebrating cuisines from around the world
This is one of my favorite ways of tradition stupid party. Ask all of your guests to sign up for a dish they’d recommend and welcome on the evening’s menu. Set and share your intents with friends
While intent-setting can be a solitary activity, it can also feel supported and motivated to share your goals with friends. In fact, this can be like creating a visual board together. Gather magazines and ask your guests to include inspirational images or words they might want to include vision board. As you craft and create together, you can think about what you want to bring into your life in 2022. If everyone feels comfortable, try sharing and telling what you once had. in your vision board. Not a singer? Does not matter. The performance of your favorite songs from the past twelve months will make anyone emotional about 2021 and this is definitely a good time. You can even hold a small awards ceremony at the end for Best Vocals, Best Hearts, Best Impersonations, etc.
Hang Out by the fire
Tempted to bring things outside? Even if it’s chilly where you live, gathering around a fire is a great way to stay warm and gather with your closest friends. Be sure to have plenty of blankets ready and brew a pitcher of crushed cider or alcohol. Don’t forget marshmallows — the party doesn’t have Gooeist s’mores you can do it.
