He is a board certified dermatologist and medical director of Facet Skincare. “People with sensitive skin should avoid using makeup wipes,” he said. “Even the wiping motions of your skin can be abrasive and irritating if you do it frequently. Wipes use the same cleaning agents as cleansers – but unlike face washes, the instructions never do. This includes rinsing off. This can be very irritating to your skin. Many makeup wipes also contain high levels of alcohol and other harsh ingredients, which can dry out and irritate your skin.”
If that’s not enough to convince those with sensitive skin to return, Young has another tip for you. ““The cleaning ingredients that wipes use to remove makeup can cause a reaction,” he says.
Believe me, as someone who has been in contact dermatitis, you’ll want to avoid it at all costs.
