Events that lead to a high-speed chase
According to the source, Nebraska State Troopers attempted to stop Pathfinder traffic around 9:35 p.m. Monday. At first, the car was traveling at 35 mph on Interstate 80, well below the posted minimum speed limit.
When a soldier tried to pull over, the driver sped up and fled east on the interstate. Authorities say the vehicle reached speeds of more than 100 miles per hour.
During the pursuit, authorities used a “stop stick” and a “tire deflation device” to slow the vehicle. The soldiers were eventually able to stop the vehicle after it veered off the interstate and lost speed.
As it headed east on I-80, another soldier was able to successfully deploy a stop stick at 288 to slow the vehicle. The suspect vehicle then exited I-80 at the Shelton Interchange and began traveling north at a slower speed.
The chase lasted about 16 minutes, according to the outlet’s report.
