The Travel Together Pass allows you to book two passengers on the same flight for Avios for just one person. In that sense, it is a 2 get 1 free voucher. However, you must pay the passenger fees, taxes and surcharges in full. This can be expensive depending on the type of service you book, but you can reduce the cost by paying more Avios to book a service. Long-haul flight savings award ticket that lowers the price of fuel surcharge.

In addition to earning enough Avios for your Travel Together Ticket, be sure to factor in the costs, taxes, and surcharges you’ll also have to pay.

Rarely use it to acquire long distance economy

Due to fees, taxes, and surcharges, it usually won’t be a great deal to use a Travel Together Pass to redeem long-distance savings.

Using the JFK to LHR example, on a standard day you can book two round-trip tickets in World Traveler using the bundled voucher for 60,000 Avios plus $200 plus $200 ( fees, taxes and surcharges for both persons). Note that these are Bonus Flight Savings prices.

The problem with this value proposition is that while you’re not paying any Avios for the second traveler, you’re still paying $200 in fees, taxes, and surcharges per person — $400 in total. We often see sell economy class tickets to New York for $400 or less, which means you’re paying as much as a cash ticket with only fees, taxes, and surcharges for your “free” seats.

In this case, it would be better to buy cheap cash tickets for both passengers and save the Avios for a more valuable use.

Now you can redeem it for solo travel

While the name suggests it’s designed for two people traveling together, solo travelers can also redeem a Travel Together Ticket to save on Avios.

Instead of the second person not having to pay any Avios, as when two people are traveling together, a solo traveler will only need half of the Avios needed when redeeming a Travel Together Ticket.

So, with a redemption value of 100,000 Avios, using the voucher for a solo travel will only require 50,000 Avios. All fees, taxes and surcharges for solo travelers are still payable.
