Credit cards with expensive annual fees often come with equally colossal perks. After you get over the initial shock of the $695 annual fee on Business Platinum® Card from American Express (see rates and fees), benefits that help make this card worthwhile for many.
One of those perks is an annual statement credit of up to $400 on Dell purchases in the US. Unfortunately, you can’t spend all that money at once. Instead, it’s split into a statement credit of up to $200 on Dell US purchases January through June, and another credit of up to $200 on Dell purchases. Dell in the United States from July to December.
It’s 2023, your credit has just reset, and you’ll want to make sure you use the full value of your benefits. Just remember, you must claim credit registration before making your purchase so that it counts.

What won’t trigger credit
Dell gift cards seem like an easy way to maximize statement credit with bankroll funds for larger purchases later. Unfortunately, Dell doesn’t directly sell its own gift cards.
Additionally, you cannot use credit for international transactions, international contact centers, Global Events, Dell Financial Services, Dell Outlet for Home, Dell Outlet for Work, Dell Partner Direct, Dell Premier, Dell Premier Connect, Dell Premier Select or at authorized retailers.
Maximize your purchases
Before you make a purchase, make sure to sign up for Dell statement credit. When you are accessing the American Express website, at the same time check your Amex Offer to see if your Amex Business Platinum is targeted for Amex Offers on Dell purchases.
Remember that the terms may state that you need to make a purchase through Dell.com/amex, so you might want to use that link if you’re using Amex Offers. However, if you are not targeted or find a better offer, you can instead click through the cashback portal such as rakuten (maybe earn you Amex member bonus points) to maximize your purchase.
You can also maximize your return by booking through an airline portal that offers miles for Dell purchases, such as unified, alaska, American, Delta or Southwest. Payouts vary from time to time but typically offer 1-2 miles per dollar. You’ll also want to check if there are ports that offer bonus to reach a certain spending threshold.
