Dear Dr. Roy:

I’m 8 years old. Some of my little friends say there is no Climate Crisis. My dad said, “If you see it in Dr. Roy’s climate blog, it is.”

“Please tell me the truth. Is there a climate crisis?“

Virginia, your little friends are wrong. They were influenced by the skepticism of a skeptical age. They don’t believe unless they see. They think that nothing is possible that their little minds cannot understand. All minds, Virginia, man or woman, child or transgender, are small. In this great universe of ours, man is just an insect, an ant, intellectually compared to the endless world around him/her/them/them, as measured by his grasping intelligence. all truth and knowledge.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Climate Crisis. It exists as surely as taxes and death and congressional incentives and subsidies exist, and you know that they are numerous and bring to the lives of some people its highest wealth! Alas! How dreary the world would be without the Climate Crisis! It will be dreary as if there were no poor people. There will be no special offers, no windmills chopping birds, no Tesla electric cars to give the rich a reason to exist! We should not enjoy, except for the senses and sight. The eternal light with which affluence fills the world will be extinguished.

Do not believe in the Climate Crisis! You might as well not believe in fairies! You could ask your dad to hire someone to watch all the private jets on Earth Day to catch Al Gore, but even if they didn’t see Al Gore, what would that prove? No one had seen Al Gore, but that was no sign that Al Gore wasn’t there. The most real things in the world are the ones that neither conservatives nor Trump supporters can see. Have you ever seen Greta Thunberg dancing on the lawn? Of course not, but that’s not proof that she wasn’t there. No one can imagine or imagine all the unseen and unseen wonders in the world.
