Gotham Advanced Media and Entertainment, a joint venture between MSG Networks and YES Network, will launch a new app in the fall that will air local games from seven New York-area teams.
The service bundle announced Wednesday is said to be the first time two regional sports networks have combined their apps into one bundled option.
Gotham Sports app to launch first NBA and NHL seasons. Locals can watch the New York Knicks, New York Rangers, New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, Buffalo Sabres, Brooklyn Nets and New York Yankees with a subscription.
The Gotham package that offers access to all of those teams will cost $359.99 a year and $41.99 a month, which is roughly the same as the monthly price of fox, Disney And Warner Bros. DiscoveryVenu’s general streaming service is blocked by temporary injunction earlier this month.
Customers who only watch some of those teams can also purchase access to the MSG+ service or the YES App for $29.99 and $24.99 per month, respectively. If they already have MSG Networks and YES Network through their pay TV subscription, they will get the Gotham Sports App service at no additional cost.
“With the increasing fragmentation of channels broadcasting fan-favorite sports programming, the Gotham Sports App provides fans of our teams with an easy access point to New York-area sporting events from MSG Networks and YES Network,” MSG Networks President and CEO Andrea Greenberg said in a press release.
Notably, SportsNet New York — the regional sports network that airs the New York Mets — is not part of this venture. It’s only available through FuboTV, DirecTV streaming, and online sign-ups for those who pay for cable.

The regional sports network business has changed dramatically in recent years. Boston’s local cable network to air Red Sox and Bruins games has launched Firstly standalone regional streaming service in 2022 and other markets has followed.
Diamond Sports Group, the largest owner of regional sports networks, has filed for bankrupt in March 2023, leading many professional teams across the leagues to change the way their games are broadcast.
A handful of NBA, WNBA and NHL teams have switched to local television stations, most recently NBA of New Orleans Pelicans and Dallas Mavericks.
Several MLB teams have opted to hold their games produced by tournament.
The Gotham Sports app isn’t the first regional sports streaming option New York area residents have. YES Network And MSG Network Both launched separate streaming services last year, and customers who just want to use one of the networks’ services rather than the combined package can still pay the cheaper price.
Not all new regional sports streaming services follow the subscription model. NHL Dallas Star And Anaheim Ducks Both announced their games will be broadcast locally on Victory+, a free, ad-supported streaming service owned by A Parent Media Co.
Previously, both teams had local games aired on a regional sports television channel owned by Diamond Sports.
