Yarde can fight on Fury-Whyte Undercard, wants to fight Canelo

Anthony Yarde’s next fight could be on the undercard of Tyson Fury-Dillian Whyte next month.

The April 23 event at Wembley Stadium has yet to have any official announcements from Queensberry Promotion. Fury’s brother Tommy is tipped to have a spot on the show and Yarde, the WBO’s number one lightweight contender, could join him.

Yarde was at York Hall on Friday night cheering on his fitness teammate Frank ‘The Tank’ Arnold and later spoke to BT Sport’s Jo Ankier about his future.

“My battle schedule will be announced. From what I know so far, they will agree, [Artur] Beterbiev and [Joe] blacksmith [Jr] and then the winner has to fight me. Canelo’s fight [Dmitry] Bivol. The whole weight class is very interesting and that’s what I expected. I’m just preparing myself.”

Speaking of the chance he was supposed to have been given to fight on Fury-Whyte under the Yarde tag, he said, “I wanted to fight so when they told me you could fight on that show, I did say completely. That’s what makes me an opponent. Someone will actually fight me, again just to prepare me for the next fight. “

If Yarde takes a spot on the undercard then not only UK viewers on BT Sport Box Office will watch his game but also US TV viewers.

“I am a person with great ambitions. Ultimately, I want to make the headlines in Vegas. I wanted to fight Canelo, I wanted to fight all the best in and around my weight division so it was an exciting time,” said Yarde.
