Pokémon Dash – Jim Norman, Screenwriter

I had to flip to the internet to find my options, because after all, aren’t all the games I like “good games”? Simply put, the answer is no.

I was shocked to see slander confronted Pokémon Dash, and for what reason?

Browsing through the list of worst Nintendo titles, I was shocked to see slander tackle each wave against Pokémon Dash, and for what reason? Since it’s a Pokémon themed racer? Because constantly swiping touchscreen controls leads to a case of carpal tunnel syndrome waiting to happen? Because it’s weird to see Pikachu from a bird’s eye view? Looks like there is. All of the above.

Happy to be raising a positive flag for such an underrated game, I have so many fond memories playing this game. The controls can be a bit of a pain, but they’re fun enough and make great use of the DS’ hardware capabilities. The fact that you can only play as Pikachu in single player mode is also magical to me. I love that little guy, and it would be tough to get him in every other Pokémon title, so limited selection was inevitable.

I understand the reason for the complaint (although Metacritic score 46 hurt me), but nothing will overturn my nostalgia. Pokémon Dash is an exciting time, and I wouldn’t be convinced otherwise.

Resident Evil 6 – Ollie Reynolds, Screenwriter

Resident Evil 6 and I didn’t have the best start in our relationship. I remember being so excited when I saw the game’s first trailer, but there were also small worries that surfaced in the depths of my mind. Leon and Chris in the same game? Good. Driving a tank through the streets of Edonia? Huh… Then the demo came out and I just thought, “oh no, that’s terrible”.

[Resident Evil 6] felt, in hindsight, like a natural evolution of what came before it

However, time is a great healer. The sixth main Resident Evil To be inferior to those who like Resident Evil 2 and Resident Evil 4; there’s no doubt about that. But a decade after its release, I really love it. Yes, it effectively removes the survival horror element that the series has built on, but the actual gameplay is ruddy have fun!

The game feels, in hindsight, like a natural evolution of what came before it. But where? Resident Evil 5 blatantly copying the gameplay and overall structure of its predecessor, Resident Evil 6 has reached the stars with four unique campaigns and perhaps the best a repeat of the ‘Mercenary’ mode the franchise has ever seen.

Does it slide up here and there? Sure. But those who think it has a sharp focus on action instead of horror need to rethink and realize that the seeds have been planted from the very beginning of the franchise. Resident Evil 6 is just the pinnacle of it.

Bioshock Infinite – Kate Gray, Screenwriter

Bioshock Infinite. LISTEN ME OUT.

I know it’s a well-produced AAA game that gets a lot of good reviews, but in recent years the general consensus has been that it’s incredibly clumsy in real-world problems that make people uncomfortable. I can’t forget what it said and whose side it was on in the first place. For the record, I agree. The racist plot in Bioshock Infinite is terrible terrible, finally it shrugged and said “actually, maybe everybody slightly evil”. I will not condone that, nor the egregious use of racist stereotypes to depict and caricature its villains and protagonists.

I still think there is a beautiful game hidden underneath all the ugly parts of Bioshock Infinite

Having said all that, I still think that there is a beautiful game hidden beneath all the ugly parts of Bioshock Infinite. It’s beautiful – that sky, that environmental design, includes real-world songs to reflect an alternative universe guided by isolated religion – and it has themes that I love. , specifically between Elizabeth and her adopted tangled family, or continuum time series, quantum mechanics, and repetition.

The Lutece twins act as eerie, ethereal guides, constantly hinting at the true nature of things before you realize it yourself? Amazing. Replacing 80s songs as outdated ragtime-waltz covers? Inspired. The monument asked to score Elizabeth’s murdered mother and her eventual resurrection as an angry banshee? Chef’s kiss. I mean, they ruined it by turning it into a wave, but they nailed it ozone. I just wish Irrational stuck with the cool ghosts and ignored all those “first-year philosophy students whose views are racist and religious!” things.

Star Fox Zero – Gonçalo Lopes, Reviewer

Star Fox Zero

It is common for established Nintendo franchises to divide their fan base into opposing polarities, which is more often the case if we say that the franchise was established before this century. . Whenever Nintendo takes an old 8 or 16-bit classic and gives the series an unexpected new twist, it is sure to follow the praise from new fans and fans alike. old. Several games come up with this pattern, and while some are well-received by critics and gamers alike, I often find something worth pursuing in them. Latest culprit on my list: Star Fox Zero.

I admit [Star Fox Zero’s] flaws and fears about how it might affect the future of the series… but I can’t deny that it’s still a scary thing

Fox star, fox 64 refined the on-rails formula established by the original Super Nintendo and Star Fox Assault added the flavor of Namco to the mix. While this GameCube entry would also be a good candidate for this Talking Point feature, Miyamoto and PlatinumGames’ latest entry in the franchise has “turned things off course,” if you puns allowed.

High resolution, optimal Star Fox the experience is something I (and I’m sure every fan of the franchise) have always dreamed of, because even in 1993 we didn’t see low-count polygon models – we have seen epic space and ground battles. The Wii U is more than capable of delivering this graphical power (and it does!), but sadly, due to the game’s design philosophy that Miyamoto encouraged throughout its development, some parts of the game Play has been severely damaged by inaccurate controls and often the unnatural way that a more casual player might grasp such alien-style maneuvering of vehicles.

So it’s bittersweet: I love the franchise, I love Star Fox Zero, but I stand alone among my close Nintendo colleagues who see the entry as a weak game. best in the entire series. I acknowledge its flaws and fear how it might affect the future of the series… but I can’t deny that it’s still a pity.

Yoshi’s Island DS – Mitch Vogel, reviewer

Yoshi's Island DS

My pick for this would be Yoshi’s Island DS. The Yoshi’s Island series has been marked by lots of highs and lows (let’s be real, mostly lows), and I see this game popping up frequently in discussions about its shortcomings. Nintendo’s biggest.

I think people should remember Yoshi’s Island DS more affectionately than they do

Personally, I really like the kid switching mechanic and feel it adds a lot to the core gameplay, while the game is spread across two screens resulting in some fun and exciting level designs. you cannot copy elsewhere. While it’s an absolute pain trying to 100% this game, I even enjoyed the process of doing it.

I’ve developed a morbid respect for Yoshi’s Island DS, and although I’ll still put the original release and wool world beyond this, I think people should remember Yoshi’s Island DS more than they do.
