When a severely emaciated Pit Bull wandered into a cul-de-sac, Lisa had no idea that her life was about to change for the better. The dog, later named Nova, was in desperate need of help, and her sweet and calm demeanor touched the hearts of those she met. This is the touching story of how Nova found a loving home and became a cherished companion.
Nova was in such poor condition that her ribs showed, and she was extremely weak. She wandered up to Lisa, who didn’t hesitate to take her in. She fed her but didn’t know what else to do. Lisa took her to a veterinarian the next day, who was unsure if she’d survive. The vet recommended that she bring her back in a month to see if she had gained any weight.
Despite the uncertainty, Lisa felt that she deserved love and care, even if her chances of survival were slim. The kind woman decided to keep her and began feeding her high-protein puppy food to help her gain weight. Thankfully, it didn’t take long for Nova to start packing on the pounds and getting stronger.
As Nova’s strength improved, she began to show her playful side. She was so happy to see Lisa come home from work that she tried to jump up to greet her, but her muscles were still too weak. With time and encouragement, Nova eventually gained enough strength to jump up and greet her at the door.
Nova’s mom took her for her first “puppuccino,” a dog-friendly treat from Starbucks, which she absolutely loved. She quickly became a beloved member of the household, forming a special bond with her rescuer above all. Lisa was going through a difficult time personally. Nova’s presence brought comfort, and Lisa believes that God sent her at just the right time.
One of the most incredible aspects of Nova’s story is the connection to Lisa’s previous dog, Blue, who had passed away a few years prior. When Nova was taken to the vet, they discovered that she had been microchipped, and her original owners had abandoned her. Upon contacting the microchip company, they learned that Nova’s original name was also Blue. This emotional revelation further solidified the belief that Nova was meant to be a part of their family.
Nova’s journey from an emaciated, abandoned dog to a cherished family member is a testament to the power of love and compassion. She needed Lisa just as much as she needed her, and together, they found healing and happiness.
