Who plays in ‘Sunday Night Football’ tonight? Time, TV channel, NFL schedule Week 11
AFC currently has 12 teams with a record of .500 or more. That’s beyond unusual and it would make for an impressive (and potentially confusing) end to the season. Even at this early stage in the 18-week campaign, every match between the AFC teams involving that logjam matters.
That will include “Sunday Night Football” this week. The standout match in this matchup is between the two teams holding the 5th and 7th Seeds in the AFC at the close of the action in Week 10. That would put them among the final three Wild Card teams, but five , five -win teams are sighing their necks.
So this match will be very important for both the home team and the away team, as it will decide which team has a place in the next round for a playoff berth.
The home team is preferred, because they have an advantage in attack. Justin Herbert, Austin Ekeler and Keenan Allen form a strong trio on that side of the ball, and Mike Williams also contributes. He hasn’t been healthy, but that quartet has helped bring the Chargers to victory on more than one occasion this year.
The other group is almost polar opposite to the Charger. The Steelers have a solid defense and a mediocre attack led by Najee Harris. Pittsburgh has had a bit of a setback because of COVID-related absences and injuries, and their quarterback situation is murky. If they win, it will be because they grind a game. They aren’t likely to be offensive swaggers, though Harris has the edge against a defense running weak Chargers.

Who plays in ‘Sunday Night Football’ tonight?
- Fit: Steelworker at Chargers
- Location: SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, Calif.
The Steelers (5-3-1) will travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers (5-4) that will prove important in the AFC Wild Card race.
The Steelers haven’t lost since Week 4, but they’re close to a 16-16 draw against the Lions. Ben Roethlisberger started the game after testing positive for COVID last Saturday, so Mason Rudolph could be a defender for the team once again. He struggled against Detroit, and the team’s fouling changed for most of the game.
The defense also has concerns about injury. TJ Watt is on the upswing and if he doesn’t play, the Steelers’ defense could struggle a lot against Justin Herbert, a fine midfielder who’s had a rough time.
The Chargers are just one return game for the captains in the AFC West race, but they have lost three of their last four. Their only win in that span was a three-point win over the Eagles. Herbert played well at times, but ill-timed turns and the NFL’s worst defense hindered the Chargers’ advance. They hope to return in this game but will have to find a way to slow Najee Harris to do so.
There is some concern about COVID on both sides of the ball. Roethlisberger and Minkah Fitzpatrick for the Steelers and Joey Bosa and Jerry Tillery for the Chargers. Each player’s pending states may change the balance of this game, but the Charger is currently taking precedence to win.
