Who is the best Honkai Star Rail character?

Tell how new Honkai: Star Railway is, it’s basically impossible to decide who is the best overall character. It will take time to figure it out, as well as adding to the list helps us see possible team components. However, now that it’s been around for a few days and we’ve found our way, we’re starting to discover people who’ve worked well for us. We figured let’s talk about the characters we introduced and figure out who might be worth hiring.
I have to say chlorophyll is my best Honkai: Star Railway character, because she’s a five-star RNG decided I’m worthy. I’m pretty happy about that too! Her character design is amazing. But more importantly, she is a healer! That means I was able to get through areas of the game that might have been a bit too strong for me in the beginning, because her special Singing Among the Clouds heals a character, then randomly heals another character, and her ultimate Quick Leap heals every party member and energizes them. Not to mention wounded energised allies will be restored to health. She is a useful dragon! — jenni
For reasons completely unrelated to gameplay, Dan Heng is my pick. Sure, he has the standard “black-haired anime boy” design going on, but that red eyeliner? PRETTY. March really robbed us in that first cutscene. Dan Heng is also a great single target attacker, which makes him a great unit for boss fights. It’s a bit of a shame how much work you have to put into him before he starts to shine, but no one ever said it was easy to maintain a relationship. — Stephanie
Unfortunately, my luck in Honkai: Star Railway very bad when it comes to getting characters, not so much when it comes to Light Cones (my inventory is full of them and of an even rarer variety!). But all the free characters have served me well, and I must say March 7 effectively carried my team with her “Defense” skill. She keeps everyone alive through even the most punitive attacks, which has allowed me to handle and defeat enemies by at least 10 levels more than my character. This not only speaks to the overall utility of the character, but also how you can get the most out of what the game has to offer, which makes me less bitter about not having any 5 star characters Which is great on my list. — kazuma
