According to the new 2022 Medium/Large Practice Management report from KLAS Arch Collaborative, the practice management solutions already on the market do not always meet customer needs.

To find out which PM product best met customer expectations, KLAS interviewed healthcare professionals at more than 300 practices over a 12-month period.

They ranked AdvancedMD, Allscripts, athenahealth, Cerner, CompuGroup Medical US, eClinicalWorks, Epic, Greenway Health, MEDITECH and NextGen Healthcare systems in terms of overall performance, culture, loyalty, operations, relationships and value of the product.

Previously, KLAS split PM data by medium scale – 11-75 physicians – and large facilities – more than 76 physicians. However, independent practices – clinics that are not owned by hospitals/health systems – and owned facilities also have different needs, so KLAS has separated them, organizing research organization said in its report.

For major clinics, athenaIDX and Epic of athenahealth, also the leading EHR provider for acute care hospitals, received the highest overall performance ratings, while Cerner and eClinicalWorks did not. expected or reported a problem.

Mid-sized operations were mostly satisfied with athenahealth’s athenaCollector, although support was an area of ​​weakness that respondents reported and NextGen Enterprise PM often exceeded expectations.

NextGen also provides the independent practices of KLAS survey participants with a consistent product experience, while athenaCollector users feel the product helps them better understand the workings of the revenue cycle. CompuGroup Medical US also received higher ratings for overall product quality, with these users reporting increased usability and payment transparency.

The major independent practices reported the lowest levels of satisfaction with eClinicalWorks.

For owned operations, Cerner has “a lot to look forward to,” according to the report, with nearly two-thirds of respondents reporting that technology stagnation and product vulnerabilities require its own software. third party, according to the report.

Epic has the highest total score in possession activities.
