Life is a little tougher for the Philadelphia Eagles this week. As they continue to try to find life in the knockout stages, head coach Nick Sirianni laid out COVID-19 protocols on Wednesday. At 7-7, they have a draw record with the Saints and Vikings, and while they hold a direct draw with the Saints, the Vikings currently hold the three-way conference record.
With that in mind, every match carries weight for the Eagles, especially the conference match against a competitor in the same division. The Eagles are having a lot of momentum, having won three games in the past four weeks, and Jalen Hurts has been a major factor in those wins. He had a total of three touchdowns last week against the Washington Soccer Team and he looks set to play a more all-round game week by week for the Eagles.
On the other sideline, the Giants have clearly thrown towels into the season effectively. Mike Glennon got off to a different start last week, launching three interceptions in a 21-6 loss to the Cowboys. This week, it’s Jake Fromm’s turn to start with Daniel Jones closed for the season. At this point, it’s time to evaluate the Giants, but a rerun of Devontae Booker has at least proven to be a bright spot in recent weeks for the Giants.
It’s hard to imagine David Gettleman being able to last more than this year at this point, especially with the entire NFC East in the playoffs except for the Giants. There doesn’t seem to be much real progress, but playing a spoiler against an opponent in the squad would be a nice footnote for the Giants in 2021. The defense is at least very solid for the Giants, but an ischemic and traumatic assault brought little support all year.
