An important technique to learn is to use hyperfocal distance. The superfocal distance is simply the closest focusing distance at which infinity objects are still in focus. In other words, it is the focusing distance that will give you the maximum depth of field. While you may sometimes want to focus on the super close-up, the super-focal distance will allow you to tackle a variety of situations and deliver sharp images.
