“When I beat Usyk, I’ll get the credit I deserve”
Respect is on Anthony Joshua’s mind ahead of his thrilling rematch with Oleksandr Usyk.
On August 20 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, British heavyweight will be looking to reclaim his three titles and in doing so become a three-time champion. Despite all his accomplishments over the course of a career, it’s clear the 32-year-old hopes he’ll get some recognition if he gets his revenge on the Ukrainians.
Talking to ESPN Joshua says:
“I feel that when I defeat Usyk, I will get the credit I deserve.”
“And I will be admired for being a true boxing legend. I fought for the heavyweight championship in my 16th bout; I feel like it’s been overlooked. “

“It makes me feel more comfortable knowing that I’ve fought a fighter before, but he can turn out to be completely different in the end.”
“I definitely felt my approach to training changed because I knew I wasn’t good enough in, you know, the areas I was exposed to.”
Now, under the tutelage of new coach Robert GarciaJoshua hopes the holes in his game can be fixed to a good enough level to beat Usyk.
“I had my third chance to be the heavyweight champion of the world.”
“I didn’t just go in there thinking it would be easy. I will address the weak points and then I will make sure I do it right and be the champion again. I think it’s a definitely possible task.
