WhatsApp Web has TRAFFIC LIGHT for security! Try this browser extension

WhatsApp Web in its latest update has a Verification Code browser extension that provides real-time verification for logins. Know more about it here.

WhatsApp is already one of the safest ways to text someone. With end-to-end encryption on both the mobile app and the web version, it’s very difficult to break into other people’s chat history. If you think this is enough, a WhatsApp web extension, called Code Verify, has now added a new feature to its WhatsApp Web service to make it a messaging platform. safer. This new major security update comes in the form of a Chrome browser extension.

The Code Verification extension claims to “provide third-party real-time verification that someone’s WhatsApp Web code has not been tampered with”. In plain English, this means that the Code Verify utility will add an extra layer of security after you scan the QR code. It will keep you updated in real time on the security status of your session. You get real-time stats to show if you’re safe.

WhatsApp Web Code Verify is like a traffic light

Managed by Cloudflare, the Code Verify utility checks the hash published by the WhatsApp Web server and the code actually used in real time. When someone uses the extension, it automatically compares the code running on WhatsApp Web with the code verified by WhatsApp itself and shared with Cloudflare servers. If there is a mismatch, you will be alerted. All of this happens in real time.

The user will see an indicator pinned to their web browser. It will remain green as long as you are logged in and everything is safe. If there is a code mismatch, it means some other extension or app has interfered with your security and the Verify Code indicator will turn red. In this case, the user can try to sign in again or simply use the mobile app to be more secure. If the indicator remains orange, it means that the WhatsApp Web sessions have timed out or the Code Verification extension has been stopped by some other extension.

If you use WhatsApp Web and are worried about security, you can download the Verify Code extension on Google Chrome, FireFox, and Microsoft Edge. After you install the Code Verify extension, it will automatically be pinned to Firefox and Edge browsers. Note that Chrome users will have to manually pin it.
