Former West Indies captain Denesh Ramdin announced his retirement from international cricket with immediate effect on Monday. Ramdin played his last game for the West Indies during T20I in December 2019. However, he will continue to play franchise cricket. Ramdin wrote on his Instagram: “I am delighted to announce my retirement from international cricket. 14 years on, a dream come true. .
“My career has given me the opportunity to see the world, make friends from different cultures and still be able to appreciate where I come from,” he added.
The ping ponger failed to find a team at the upcoming edition of the CPL, despite representing the Guyana Amazon Warriors, St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Trinbago Knight Riders from 2013 to 2021.
He played 74 Tests, 139 ODIs and 71 T20I. He started out in Test cricket, making his debut against Sri Lanka in Colombo in July 2005.
He was featured in the West Indies’ T20 World Cup victory in 2012 and 2016.

Ramdin led the West Indies in 17 games – 13 Tests, 3 T20Is and an ODI after he was named West Indies’ Test captain in 2014, replacing Daren Sammy, who had retired. Jason Holder replaced him at the helm in 2015.
Meanwhile, West Indies batter Lendl Simmons also announced his retirement from international cricket on Monday. His decision comes first after his Caribbean Premier League franchise Trinbago Knight Riders posted a congratulatory message for the player.
