Former Formula 1 driver Brundle has had a few scary moments on track, there was his big accident at the 1984 Dallas Grand Prix and that time he tried Interviewing Megan Thee Stallion on the gridiron in Austin. Apparently he didn’t have much luck in America. However, his sketchy moment in the McLaren F1 did not occur on any Formula 1 track, but instead while he was driving. In the film he created for “Top Gear” rival showing “Fifth Gear”, Brundle is behind the wheels of a McLaren F1 to show off its capabilities on UK roads. However, he did so on a wet day on a road covered with leaves and mud, as he described the scene. This piece of junk and a seven-figure supercar are not a great combination.
While Former Benetton racer was giving his thoughts on how to handle the car, his face suddenly dropped and you could almost see the exact moment his soul left his body. The former racer then performed a quick flick of the wrist to regain control of the car and save for a change in expression remained calm throughout the entire ordeal, even continuing to ramble about the car.
It was actually quite a nice view, and he commented afterward how easy it would be to lose it in a car like this on a road like that. The clip available to watch above is taken from a DVD called Martin Brundle’s Supercars. In it, the presenter sits behind the wheel of other postal cars like Pagani Zonda, Bugatti EB110 and even Volvo station wagons. Really, it has it all.
Thankfully, Brudle didn’t experience any further difficulties in the other cars he tested on film, but that just goes to show that even the pros have tough days behind the wheel.
