Cyan’s Racing heavily modified Volvo The P1800 will launch in North America soon, and it will be available for purchase in the US. Based on the sleek 1961-72 coupe possibly the sexiest car Volvo has ever produced, it was transformed by the wizards at the track engineering company formerly known as the Polestar into a 420 hp tire shredder.
We have learned about Cyan P1800 before, admiring lighter-than-a-Miata weight restriction thanks carbon fiber body plate, while marveling at it Volvo four liter 2.0 liter turbo beautifully minimalist. The driving experience is really similar, from the manual to the no ABS and traction control. The entire suspension has been redesigned, and even its configuration isn’t quite the same as the original P1800 – the greenhouse has been repositioned, for example.
Most of all, its transformation from antique to hot bar was accomplished not by some nightly activity, but by an actual racing shop, which transformed the Volvo 850 into a Super Touring race car. The Polestar company was so successful, Volvo actually bought them out, then turned the brand into its own performance EV subsidiary.
Cyan Racing says the only things left over from the original P1800 are the steel frame, lid, handbrake and windshield wipers. Everything else, including the glass, was made specifically for this car.
A year ago, Cyan said that the entry price for a unique combination of classic design and race-inspired performance is 500,000 dollars. However, when it’s available in the states, according to Cyan, the starting price will be “about $700,000.”
With that attractive price, customers can personalize each P1800 to their liking. Cyan says the bike has been engineered to “fit everything from a lightweight, high-performance cafe racer to a large car.”
Cyan Volvo P1800 will make its North American debut at The Quail in Monterey Car week.
