Volkswagen ID.7 GTX 2024 launched – fastback EV sedan with 340 PS capacity, 595 km range; 0-100 km/h in 5.4 seconds
After the introduction of Volkswagen ID.7 GTX Tourer In March this year, the German car company launched the GTX version of the Quick return to regular ID.7. The new ID.7 GTX will be available to order from June 6, 2024 in Germany, alongside the ID.7 GTX Tourer as well as the Pro S variants of both ID.7 models.
Along with the Tourer model, the ID.7 GTX is currently Volkswagen’s most powerful electric vehicle (EV) model and features a dual-motor setup for a total system output of 340 PS (335 hp or 250 kW). This allows the back-to-back vehicle to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 5.4 seconds, while the 86 kWh battery pack provides a range of up to 595 km according to WLTP standards – ID.7 GTX Tourer goes 585 km. The battery supports DC fast charging with a maximum capacity of 200 kW, reaching a 10-80% charge state in just 26 minutes.
The fastback also receives design changes from the performance wagon, including a new front bumper with diamond-style mesh inserts as well as boomerang-shaped LED daytime running lights. Other highlights include standard IQ.Light LED matrix headlights, illuminated Volkswagen logos and 20-inch ‘Skagen’ alloy wheels.
Inside, the heated seats feature red contrast stitching and perforated ‘GTX’ lettering on the backrest. The multi-function steering wheel is also another GTX-specific item, with a red center console and red stitching.
As for the Pro S variants, these have an increased net battery energy capacity of 86 kWh (91 kWh total), more than the Pro version which has a usable capacity of 77 kWh (82 kWh). Both versions – fastback and Tourer – come with a rear electric motor rated at 286 PS (282 horsepower or 210 kW). With higher power output, the fastback in Pro S form offers a range of up to 709km, while the Tourer will offer a range of up to 690km.
