The couple’s arrest comes as Britain recently announced sanctions against the junta in Myanmar – coinciding with the fifth anniversary of the deadly crackdown on Rohingya Muslims in the country. The 2017 attack left more than 6,000 people dead and hundreds of thousands displaced within the first few months, most of which had to flee across the border to Bangladesh.
