Vampire Facials At Spas In New Mexico Are Linked To The Spread Of HIV
The New Mexico Department of Health is contacting former customers of a spa in Albuquerque, New Mexico. According to the report of this organization, cosmetic procedures at VIP Beauty Salon and Spa are associated with HIV infection.

Details of the New Mexico Department of Health Report
On July 5, the DOH released a report for anyone who received “any type of injection-related service” at the spa. It urges them to go for “free and confidential testing and counseling for HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C”.
Those most likely to be affected are those who have received “vampire face or Botox injections”.
According to People, a vampire face uses a client’s blood injected back into their face to “refresh” the look of their skin.

The organization urges that former customers be “retested” for infections “even if they have previously tested negative”.
Additionally, the DOH deputy secretary, Dr Laura Parajon, shared a statement.
“It is very important that we educate and remind people who have received any type of injection related to the services provided at the VIP Spa to come for free and confidential testing.”

HIV case report related to vampire facials & other procedures at VIP Spa
According to the report, the Department of Infectious Diseases DOH has been notified of a diagnosed case of HIV infection. Furthermore, the former client explained that their only “self-reported HIV risk exposure” was a vampire face they received at the VIP Spa in 2018.
This prompted the DOH to reopen its investigation into the complaints. Since July 5, the organization has detected additional “other HIV infections that are directly or indirectly related” to VIP Spa services.
The New Mexico Department of Health also reported that the VIP Spa closed on September 7, 2018. Additionally, this closure was prompted after multiple licensing and regulatory agencies “identified the practices.” “capable of spreading blood-borne diseases”.
Furthermore, the former owner of the spa committed “five felonies of practicing medicine without a license” last year.
