Using AR, VR and AI tools across the healthcare landscape

Technology is a key catalyst in the effort to transform healthcare.

Improving patient experience and outcomes, reducing risks, and enhancing medical training and patient education are just some of the contributions advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and augmented reality can make.

But effectively harnessing technological advances in healthcare must address real patient needs, according to Jess Rengstorf, director of US Healthcare Strategy at Endava, a London-based software and technology services company specializing in digital transformation and automation.

By applying VR, AR and AI to the care experience, healthcare providers can monitor patients more continuously and comprehensively, intervene earlier when illnesses or conditions arise, and better personalize care, she said.

However, collaborative development is key when creating and deploying new technologies to achieve these higher goals.

“I think we need to engage interdisciplinary teams when developing some of these AI solutions to make sure that we’re meeting the needs of all the people involved and really focusing on the patient,” she explained in this week’s podcast.
