Much of the attention paid to the golf world has focused on recent behind-the-scenes controversies, but that was shelved this week as the 123rd US Open took place. With the city of LA hosting its first major championship in 75 years, history was made with 36 holes left to play. That action continues Saturday with Round 3; according to Coverage and update live US Open rankings all day until evening.

Rickie Fowler set a 36-hole US Open record at 130 with 18 birdies, four points short of the event record… for an entire tournament. His 62 on Thursday (compared to Xander Schauffele) was the lowest score in US Open history and the lowest of any major. Fowler’s career resurgence was an extraordinary one as he managed to land a mainstay for the first major of his career on Move Day.

Schauffele and Rory McIlroy took a two-shot lead, while Wyndham Clark split the lead as they entered Round 3. Dustin Johnson and Scottie Scheffler were the last major league winners (aside from McIlroy) to try to catch Fowler in the third round. last two days at LACC. The event marked the first time since the 2014 PGA Championship, Rory started a major tournament with two rounds of 67 or less. McIlroy is 3-0 in the major leagues when scoring that way to start the respective leagues.
