The final at the final major of the 2022 golf season will take place on Sunday when the Open Championship comes to an end. 150th historic tournament at St. Andrews. Rory McIlroy and Viktor Hovland came out on Saturday to take the lead after 54 holes. Both fired 66 rounds by their pairing for an eagle, 11 birds, and a condor for the day. McIlroy is wanting breaking record not big since 2014, while Hovland hopes to break through at a historic major championship on the Old Course. It looks like one of the two will be Champion Golfer of the Year, but Cameron Smith was the one who put on a sizable run in his nine-day return Sunday to jostle McIlroy for the top spot at St. Andrews.
Unfortunately, Tiger Woods’ week didn’t go well. He had a rough start from the first tee, shooting his worst round at The Open on Thursday before hitting 75 on Friday to sit near the bottom of the standings. Tiger gets emotional as he steps onto the 18th fairway knew he was going to miss his chance at The Open for the second time in a row overall (2019) and the second in a row after multiple appearances at St. Andrews (2015).
