Twisted timeline of EV tax credits, IKEA, Nader and Tesla FSD charges: Automotive News Today

Ralph Nader calls Tesla fully self-driving. Electrify America adds chargers at IKEA. Could restarting EV tax credits break WTO rules? And even industry insiders can’t verify the EV tax credit will return before the end of the year, so buy now. This and more, here Green Car Report.

The revised version of the US electric vehicle tax credit, part of the Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) is likely to be put to a vote in the House of Representatives today, helping to set up our supply chain for domestic battery manufacturers and many other American-made electric vehicles. But it won’t sound so sweet at first — that’s because the new law has it no provision to extend the “old” EV tax credit to purchase for the rest of the year. The only exception is a binding contract, down payment to buy an EV for delivery this year, or buy that EV before President Biden signs the bill. You have two weeks, so let’s get started!

That’s not the only more controversial detail about the bill. The European Union now states that the new version of the EV tax credit, which prioritizes US-produced content, can break WTO rules discrimination against European manufacturers.

At over 25 IKEA US stores, Electrify America adds fast charger for public driving EV and toll stations for EV delivery drivers — on the way for retailers seeking zero-emission home deliveries by 2025.

And in case you missed it, earlier this week consumer safety campaigner Ralph Nader urged federal regulators to order Tesla’s complete elimination of self-driving cars from all means.
