Tuning shop plans to turn C8 Corvette into a supercar that honors Cadillac


In March 1902, Henry Ford left his Henry Ford Company investors, leaving behind his former financial backers to allay concerns. The engineer who came to appraise the old equipment, Henry Leland, convinced the investors to set up new car company and support him instead. Therefore, six years ago Ford gave the world Model T, he unwittingly gave the world Cadillac Automotive Company in August 1902. That makes 2022 the 120th anniversary of the brand that once called itself the “Standard of the World.” We don’t know if Cadillac has any plans for this year, but US-based tuning company Competition Carbon does. As Carscoops pick up, the after-sales specialty store Escort ship and Lamborghini mod intends to turn an existing C8 Corvette into one supercar homage to Cadillac known as the C120R. There will be two versions of this creation, one of which is a V12 roadster.

As for the look of the kit, the rationale for its intensity makes sense after looking at Cien. The two-pipe hood that sinks below the vector-designed front fender, reshaped side air intakes, the square and convex rear fender fly doors all come straight out of the Cien, picture below.

The rear spoiler is adjustable and the hood is refreshed. That scoop will be one of two engine covers for the vehicle. The first has eight trims, and we suspect the car that Competition Carbon brings to this year’s SEMA show will use Corvette’s 6.2-liter V8. However, one of the names tagged as Hartley’s engine, a small engine builder in New Zealand. Apparently another C120R is planned for the 2023 SEMA show, one packing an opening top and a rear V12. A post on Hartley’s Facebook page from 2018 shows a Hartley V12 5.0 liters based on a Toyota 1GZ V12 with power from 700 to 800 hp. The caption says the engine is intended to showcase the capabilities and configurability of the in-house products, and “We found this engine platform to be the perfect fit for a small exotic automaker, a who wants to build 10-20 unique cars, that [wants] partner with our brand and have exclusive rights to our unique engine. “The next iteration is a road-ready, twin-turbo version that can hit 1,000 hp, appear on dyno in 2020. The flattened engine cover is capable of surpassing the V12’s peak air intake.
