US regulatory company RTR revealed the first complete version of the seventh generation Ford Mustangand it will arrive in Australia at an unspecified date.
Based on Ford Mustang GTthe Mustang RTR Spec 2 will be available in the United States as soon as examples begin showing up at Ford dealerships. It’s worth noting that the first Australian examples of the regular Mustang were recently delayed to the first quarter of 2024.
Ford Australia import, conversion and modification company Mustang Motorsport has now opened registration of interest for the Mustang RTR Spec 2.
In the US, the Mustang RTR Spec 2 costs US$12,495 (~AU$19,200) which is more than the base Mustang GT price of US$43,540 (~AU$66,900). Neither Australian pricing for the Mustang RTR Spec 2 package nor the seventh-generation Mustang itself have been confirmed.
The highlight of the Mustang RTR Spec 2 package is the RTR Tactical Performance suspension that includes adjustable shock absorbers and struts, lowering springs, and adjustable front and rear swing bars.
This suspension setup has been designed to provide an “exceptional” driving experience on and off the track.
On the outside, there’s a body kit that includes the RTR upper grille with signature LED accent lights, lower grille, angled grille, chin splitter, under-tray extension, perforations bonnet vents, rocker bar splitter, rear panel splitter and rear spoiler.
There are also 20-inch RTR wheels wrapped in Nitto NT555 G2 275/35 R20 tires.
Inside there’s an RTR Performance gearshift lever, RTR floor mats and a numbered plate on the dashboard engraved with Vaughn Gittin Jr’s signature.
There aren’t any changes to the Mustang GT’s 5.0-liter Coyote V8 engine, which in the US is confirmed to produce 356 kW of power and 563 Nm of torque. It generates 362kW and 567Nm with the optional active valve performance exhaust system.
This engine can be combined with a 6-speed manual or 10-speed automatic transmission.
RTR has announced that there will also be a Mustang RTR Spec 1, but has yet to reveal any information about this version.
The US tuning company still offers five different packages for the upcoming Mustang that is no longer available to order in Australia.

A Ford Australia spokesperson said: “Production of the Mustangs for the Australian market will begin later this year.
“Due to significant transit times between our plant in Flat Rock, Michigan and Australia, we expect the first shipments to arrive in the first quarter of 2024.”
