Former President Donald Trump criticized pop star Taylor Swift on Sunday, less than a week after the musician endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris.
“I hate Taylor Swift!” Trump posted in all caps on Social truthwebsite owned by Trump Media and Technology Group.
Fast endorsed by Harris in an Instagram post on Tuesday, shortly after presidential debate between the two candidates of the two major parties.
“I think she’s a calm, talented leader and I believe we can accomplish so much more in this country if we’re led by calm, not chaos,” Swift wrote in the post. She also signed the caption “bare cat lady,” referring to Comments on Democratic Women was put forward by Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance.
Trump shared earlier fake images generated by artificial intelligence on social media showing Swift and her fans supporting him. Swift cited such images as the reason she made her endorsement public.
Harris-Walz’s campaign responded to Trump’s post on Sunday with a statement that included multiple references to Swift’s music.
“Donald Trump’s week of whining and conspiracy theories has left voters on both sides of the aisle ready to forget he ever existed,” campaign spokeswoman Sarafina Chitika said in a statement. “The American people want to escape the chaos and division of the Trump era, leave the void of Trump’s empty promises behind, and start anew by electing Vice President Harris to ensure America’s future of opportunity endures.”
It’s unclear how much of an impact celebrity endorsements will have on the presidential race, even for high-profile figures like Swift. About a day after she endorsed Harris, her post prompted over 300,000 visitors to Vote.gov, a government website that directs users to state-specific voting information.
