Like in the Netherlands, Justin Trudeau is introducing a nitrogen emission limit that will completely destroy Canadian farming.
In December 2020, the Trudeau government announced their new climate plan, with a focus on reducing nitrogen oxide emissions from fertilizers to less than 30% of 2020 levels by 2030.
“Fertilizers play a key role in the success of the agricultural industry and have contributed to record harvests over the past decade. They have helped increase crop yields, grain sales, and Canadian exports,” a New information posted from Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada read.
“However, nitrous oxide emissions, especially those associated with the use of synthetic nitrogen fertilizers, have also increased significantly. That is why the Government of Canada has set a national fertilizer emission reduction target as part of its commitment to reduce total GHG emissions in Canada by 40-45% by 2030…. “

It is estimated that a 30% absolute emission reduction for a farmer who grows 1000 acres of canola and 1000 acres of wheat, their profits will be reduced by about $38,000 – $40,500/year.
In 2020, farmers in Western Canada planted about 20.8 million acres of canola. Using these values, cumulative farm revenue from canola could be reduced by $396 million – $441 million annually. Wheat celebrities could get $400 million off.
