Nigel Hammett on a bus to Atlanta, Georgia, as he dozes off in traffic. He woke up to find the bus in the same spot – trapped by heavy snowfall.
He was one of many people stranded by a blizzard that caused travel delays and power outages. Drivers save gas and wait for the road to clear overnight. Some abandoned their cars, leaving them to be towed instead of spending the night on a snowy highway.
Traffic officials are hoping to reopen the road within 72 hours of closure.
