Toyota Vios 2023 is now open for pre-order in Malaysia with an estimated price of RM90k-RM96k; Wireless CarPlay, rear AC vents


UMW Toyota Motor (UMWT) has opened the order book for Toyota Vios fourth generation (internal code AC100), will be offered in two variants. Estimated prices start at RM90,000 on the road there is no coverage for the base 1.5E, while the top 1.5G is for RM96,000. Yes, there are currently only two variants – the entry-level 1.5J and the sportier GR-S that have been dropped.

Now marketed as a “fastback” instead of a sedan, the new Vios achieves a number of notable improvements over the old version. predecessor. As a starter, the available 9-inch Display Audio system (a slim unit) now supports Android Auto and wireless Apple CarPlay (previously wired only).

Elsewhere, the B-segment sedan (let’s call it that, right?) now comes with rear vents as well as an electronic parking brake with automatic brake hold. The number of driving modes has also increased to 3 modes: Power, Eco and Normal (previously only Eco and Sport).

Other equipment mentioned in the brochure include 17-inch alloy wheels, gearshift paddles and a panoramic view screen. Although not mentioned, you can clearly recognize the spoiler on the trunk lid and the 7-inch digital instrument cluster. The latter is suitable for Veloz as well as Perodua Axia, Alza and Ativa as it is based on the same Daihatsu New Global Architecture (DNGA) platform. We also see brown interior trim (Thailand has red) and ambient lighting controls.

Under the bonnet is a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder, Dual VVT-i engine, certainly a 2NR-VE with 106 PS and 138 Nm of torque – this engine is connected suitable for D-CVT, suitable for Veloz MPV. The upcoming Vios in Malaysia is powered by a 2NR-FE 1.5 liter engine (also with Dual VVT-i) with 107 PS and 140 Nm.

As for driver assistance systems, the Toyota Safety Sense suite returns and includes familiar things like the Pre-Collision System (automatic emergency braking) and Blind Spot Monitoring with Cross Traffic Alert. after.

Lane departure warning also returns but is now renamed as Lane Departure Warning and is complemented by additional systems: Lane Departure Prevention and Lane Keeping Control. New features that are popping up are Front Departure Warning, Automatic High Beams, and Adaptive Cruise Control.

Customers will have 5 colors to choose from, including Metallic Silver, Attitude Black, Nebula Metallic Blue and Spicy Red, the last color being a hero color. The fifth option is the Platinum White Pearl which will cost an extra RM400. A five-year, unlimited-mileage warranty comes with each purchase.

Speaking of options, UMWT offers a Tech-Up package for the RM380 that adds a rear digital video recorder, potentially in addition to the one already available at the front on both variants – Western Telecommunications System. The company’s convenience (VTS) is also part of the standard suite and comes with a three-year subscription.

New Vios debut in Thailand for the first time Last August 2022 was debut in Indonesia in October same year. In the fourth generation, the sedan switched to Daihatsu’s New Global Architecture (DNGA) causing its size to increase slightly.
