Toyota Prius 2023 revealed: More efficient, more powerful, more aggressive



LOS ANGELES — In the midst of an all-electric revolution, by Toyota original green machine, the Prius, seems to have faded into the background. The current model has been around since the 2016 model year, but now the mixture hatch is having a whole new generation. 2023 Prius and Prius Prime More beautiful, faster and more efficient than ever.

The design is clearly even more focused on reducing drag and does it impressively. That windshield and rake give the new Prius an even more shape lamborghini than Land Cruiser. The whole body is also much less busy and awkward than the current car. It also adopts unusual features such as hidden rear door handles, which help give the car a fake two-door appearance. The car is also lower and wider; the hood is 2 inches lower and the car overall is an inch wider. The new car also built on the second generation TNGA-C platform, also used by corolla. That means it has MacPherson strut front suspension and double wishbone rear suspension.

The interior is a blend of current Toyota design, as well as some bits from bZ4X. It features Toyota Audio multimedia infotainment system is much improved. The standard display is 8-inch, and the 12.3-inch unit is available in higher trim levels. In front of the driver is a front-mounted instrument display like in bZ4X. That has also allowed Toyota to use a smaller steering wheel like in the EV. The dash lacks some unique details like the fabric covering.

A sportier, cleaner look is combined with a much more powerful powertrain. All current Prius models have a larger 2.0-liter four-cylinder paired with an electric motor up front, and they’re essentially identical but tuned differently for different outputs. All receive lithium-ion the battery package, which is placed under the back seat. The basic front-wheel drive Prius makes 194 hp, and the all-wheel drive model adds a rear engine to 196 hp. Toyota estimates the front-wheel drive car will hit 60 mph in 7.2 seconds and the all-wheel drive will do it in 7 seconds. Toyota also notes that the most efficient version of the regular Prius will get a total of 57 mpg, which is more than the old model 1.

The Prius Prime plug-in is the powerhouse of the family making 220 hp. That’s fine for an estimated time of 6.6 seconds to 60 mph. The Prime doesn’t have an all-wheel drive option, but it does have some unique features not found on the regular Prius. The main one is the plug-in capabilities. Toyota says the Prime has 50% more range than the current car, about 37 miles. Fuel economy has yet to be announced. Other unique features of Prime include available rooftop solar panels that can be filled with batteries or power accessories, as well as additional sensors that enable lane change assist, cross-traffic alert. forward, automatic parking, and hands-free traffic jam assist (under 25 mph). Prime will even have a home power outlet that can deliver up to 1,500 watts of power to home appliances.

On the regular Prius, trim levels are as follows: LE, XLE and Limited. The versions of Prime are SE, XSE and XSE Premium. The features are pretty much the same on each model, with the exception of some of the Prime exclusions mentioned above. The LE comes standard with 17-inch alloy wheels with wheel covers, a faux-leather steering wheel, an 8-inch infotainment screen, blind-spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert. Prime SE adds rain-sensing wipers and low-speed traffic jam assist. The XLE includes 19-inch alloy wheels, heated front seats, power driver’s seat, leatherette upholstery, auto-dimming mirrors, parking sensors, proximity key, rain-sensing wipers and phone charger wireless. Prime XSE adds clear taillights. Limited and Prime XSE Premium models come with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen, JBL audio system, sunroof, heated steering wheel, heated and ventilated front seats and a driver’s seat with memory.

The Prius and Prius Prime will go on sale next year. Pricing and availability of the former will be announced later this year, and Prime details will be available in the first half of next year.
