Toyota Indonesia exports new Yaris Cross to Asia, South America – New B-SUV has 80% localization
Toyota Yaris Cross 2023, just launched in Indonesia, is produced in the ASEAN country and will be exported to Asia and Latin America. The B-segment SUV comes in pure gasoline as well as hybrid form – Yaris Cross HV is Toyota’s second hybrid model to be produced in Indonesia after the Kijang Hybrid Zenix Innovation.
A production and export kick-off ceremony was held at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Indonesia (TMMIN) factories Karawang 1 and 2 yesterday. Based on AutonetmagzYaris Cross’s lithium-ion hybrid battery is locally assembled at the Karawang 2 plant, while the engine is manufactured in Karawang Factory 3.
The Yaris Cross has 80% localization for both ICE and hybrid variants. The report states that with an investment of Rp 2.5 trillion (RM775 million), TMMIN has added 12 new suppliers to the list and now has 116 local suppliers.
Toyota’s goal is to export more than 22,000 Yaris Cross units to markets in Asia and South America, with exports expected to reach 40,000 units by 2025. TMMIN is looking to increase its total exports from Indonesia during the year. now add 5% to 316,000 units.
