This season’s biggest beauty trend has just been revealed.

To kick off the awards season, we have our annual awards ceremony. MTV Video Music Awards, and rapper, songwriter, and certified Hot Girl Summer champ, Megan Thee Stallion, is making her hosting debut. The show certainly boasts some hot performers In the past and this year, the stage will feature names like Eminem, Chappell Roan, Shawn Mendes and Le Sserafim.

But before the awards show even got underway, our favourite stars took to the red carpet in hair and makeup looks that beauty lovers will struggle to replicate. The biggest beauty trend of the evening that we spotted? A revival of the Renaissance through makeup. Chappell Roan

Chappell Roan is no stranger to eye-catching makeup. Since her emergence on the music scene, we’ve seen her incorporate elements from contemporary drag culture, club kid counterculture, and playful clowncore. When asked about the inspiration behind her mystical VMAs look (complete with a knight wielding her sword), she remained mum, encouraging viewers to take it all in and draw their own conclusions. She hit the red carpet with a 300-year-old Persian rug, a 600-year-old sword, and a gorgeous matte burgundy lip.

We’re all about goth eye makeup as we head into the -ber months, and Chappell Roan is quickly making her way onto our inspiration boards with her look. Roan’s penciled brows pair beautifully with a metallic, diffused eyeshadow look with hints of burgundy and navy. Individual lashes and a gold eyeshadow under the lower lash line complete the look, giving it the appearance of a Renaissance monarch with a darker taste.

Lisa

Blackpink’s Lisa paired her angelic custom Mugler gown with equally effortless makeup. Gone are the days of super dewy skin—this fall is all about matte faces and pops of blush. We’re obsessed with how Lisa’s petal pink shade perfectly complements her mauve lips. Her slightly blunted bangs were swept into her brows, drawing attention to her shimmery eye makeup with highlighter placed in the inner corners and curled lashes.

If those dark under-eye circles are coming back, sign us up! Lisa showed us how to do it with the same pearly white highlighter placed just below the lashes, on the tip of her nose and on her cupid’s bow, paired with the shimmering satin of the corset on her dress and the attached chiffon cape. Lisa’s look reminds us of Renaissance imagery with its large figures set against a romantic, swirling landscape.

Anitta

This fall, we are leaning hard We’ve all been into bronze makeup looks, so we’re crazy about how Anitta hit the red carpet with her version of the makeup trend. Her cheekbones took center stage with the help of soft contouring and bronzer placed just below the natural berry hue on her cheekbones. Similar to Lisa, the singer perfectly matched the tone on her cheeks to her glossy lip color.
