The women reviving a vanishing legacy of Sufi music in Kashmir
In Indian-administered Kashmir, Yemberzal is the primary all-women Sufiyana music group. This music – which had been dying out within the area – was a uniquely male custom.
Folks have tried to place the group down in some ways, reminiscent of telling them that Sufiyana wasn’t meant for ladies. One of many group’s fathers was harassed by his neighbours.
At the very least two of the members, Irfana and Gulshan, need to open a Sufiyana music faculty after they end college.
