The new Amaran F22c LED is crazy

Continuously, LEDs have become more powerful and more affordable over the past decade, to the point that they challenge a lot of flashing lights. However, the new Amaran LED may just top them all.

A few years ago I first tried using a continuous LED to take pictures, and although it had good power at the time, it was barely usable. It took me a while and I decided that it would only be useful for videos and even then, you would need a few. Then, about two years ago, I had the opportunity to try out some new LEDs at a lighting store and was pleased to see we’ve come a long way. I bought one that suited my needs and have been using it ever since.

I have used continuous LEDs for magazine editorial portraits, commercial products, corporate shots, and environmental portraits in all conditions and situations. They are lightweight, don’t get hot, have a long battery life, are portable, and don’t need to experiment with settings as you can see in the liveview. The crazy thing is, the LEDs I’m using aren’t even that great compared to some of the new lights I own and some of the newly released lights, like this Amaaran F22c RGBWW.

Have you used LED lighting a lot? What do you think of it?
