Neon Giant’s first DLC update for Rise is out now. They say that Cybersec Pack content includes “two new weapons, one new tactic, four new armor pieces, and four new animated weapon skins.” They’ve also put out a new trailer showing off these features, which you can check out below.
That’s quite a lot when it comes to DLC packs, but along with it, Neon Giant also dropped New patch for The Ascent too. This is the fifth patch for the game since its initial launch near the end of July 2021. This patch includes fixes for various issues, increased co-op stability, sound improvements as well as other changes.
The patch also adds a new feature called Transmogrification, which you might be familiar with if you’ve played games like Fate 2 or World Of Warcraft. In the words of Neon Giant, this will allow players to “change their appearance to match the visual style of any armor currently in their inventory by visiting the Stylist and paying a small fee”. Once done, you can equip any armor you want and your character’s appearance will not change.
In his review, Ed mentioned that “the early stages of The Ascent are pretty brutal and maybe a bit similar because you don’t have a lot of interesting weapons.” I haven’t played it yet, but I don’t really see Cybersec Pack addressing that speed issue, despite the new additions.
Honestly, I’m personally more interested in free updates than paid plans. I’m not a huge fan when it comes to DLC-only paid content like this in general, but I like the fact that they put out cool features over free.
Neon Giant also said there are still two more free patches for The Ascent. One is still slated for this year and includes new voiceovers for side quests in the game. The other introduces a new Game+ mode, but is currently aiming for a 2022 release. There are also plans for another paid DLC, which they call the “Network Warriors Pack”.
