The Toyota Highlander Hybrid 2025 This three-row crossover gets standard all-wheel drive and a new special edition model, which are the only significant updates.
Based on the Highlander Hybrid Limited trim, Version 25 marks two and a half decades since the first-generation Highlander debuted. Debuting at the 2000 New York Auto Show as a 2001 model, the Highlander was one of the first crossovers to set the template for a class that now dominates new car sales.
While the Edition 25 is also a hybrid, that Highlander isn’t celebrating its 25th anniversary this year. The first Highlander Hybrid debuted in 2005 as a 2006 model. It was Toyota’s second hybrid, following the pioneering Prius.
In keeping with the 25th anniversary special edition, the Edition 25 gets 20-inch silver-finished wheels and silver exterior trim. It also gets some “Edition 25” badging, a surround-view camera system, and leather seats.
2025 Toyota Highlander Hybrid
In addition to the 25th Edition, Toyota will offer XLE, XLE Nightshade, Limited, and Platinum trims for 2025. All will have the same powertrain, including a 2.5-liter inline-four engine connected to Toyota’s familiar hybrid system, produces 243 horsepower. The 2.4-liter turbocharged engine continues to be equipped on non-hybrid models.
The removal of front-wheel drive means the Highlander Hybrid will see a slight decrease in EPA fuel economy estimates. Best 35 mpg combined (35 mpg city, 35 mpg highway) estimates for all-wheel-drive models remain unchanged, as does the 34 mpg highway estimate for all-wheel-drive Limited and Platinum models. But 2024 models with front-wheel drive Rated 36 mpg combined (36 mpg city, 35 mpg highway).
Toyota plans to start delivering the 2025 Highlander in NovemberThe automaker has confirmed a base price of $39,520 (before destination) for the front-wheel-drive LE trim without the hybrid powertrain, but will announce pricing for the hybrid version closer to its on-sale date.
Rival crossover models like the hybrid version of the Hyundai SantaFe And Kia Sorento has been updated more recently than Highlander and now has a larger version Grand Highlander Hybrid name sharing too.
