2025 Nissan Leaf S base version starting at $29,280 with destination, but through September 3, the car is eligible for $7,500 in NMAC Special APR cash, which is essentially a rebate that customers can get when financing at a promotional price, CarsDirect explains. The electric hatchback is also eligible for $1,000 in bonus cash.

Those dynamics add up. Save up to $8,500delivers the real value of a Leaf S down to $20,780. That’s still a bit higher than the $19,490 MSRP of the base 2024 Nissan Versa S (Nissan has yet to announce pricing for the 2025 model) with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), and Nissan also lists an even lower-priced Versa S with a manual. But current financing incentives still make the Leaf cheaper.
According to CarsDirect, Nissan is currently offering 3.19% APR financing for a five-year Leaf and 8.37% for a Versa. Over the same loan term, CarsDirect estimates that a Versa would cost $23,819 at $399 a month. But a Leaf would cost $22,509 at $375 a month.

The $7,500 bonus that comes with this financial incentive also makes up for the fact that the Leaf Loss of eligibility for federal EV tax credit for the 2025 model year. That credit—$3,750 for the 2024 Leaf—is also only available to eligible households, so the financial incentive could be more broadly applicable.
This deal comes with a few drawbacks. The Leaf S only Manages 149 miles of EPA range (A more expensive SV Plus model is also available, with a range of 212 miles.) The non-Plus Leaf, with its smaller battery, hasn’t been significantly updated in years, and the Leaf is the only EV still using CHAdeMO fast charging standardBut for budget-conscious shoppers, this is at least one example of an electric car being cheaper than a comparable gasoline-powered car.
