What would a kitchen deal post look like without an Instant Pot? Instant Pots that are constantly on sale are a good entry into the world of pressure cooking. This model has nine different functions, from making yogurt to cooking rice. It’s large enough for family meals, and the end result will be just as delicious as on more expensive models.
The ThermoWorks Thermapen line of thermometers is the Cadillac of the world of instant-read thermometers. They’re not cheap, but they’re reliable, easy to use, and last forever. I’ve been using my device for years and it’s still as good as the day it arrived. One is accurate to ±0.5 degrees Fahrenheit and takes a second to read the temperature. Note that Thermapen doesn’t sell on Amazon, and we recommend avoiding any Thermapen you find there.

Photo: AmazonThere’s the blender, and then there’s the Vitamix blender. I’m a skeptic, but like Gear reviewer Joe Ray, Vitamix turned me into a blender. Essentially, a blender is just a blade on top of a motor. Everything else just gets in the way. The engine is why Vitamix is so good. And yes, it’s expensive, but it’s worth it. It’s not the best deal we’ve seen for it, but it’s the best we’ve seen this year.
If you think of a blender as a blender, this is the blender you want. It’s not much of a problem, but the Nutribullet is the perfect single-serving smoothie maker, and the mix container doubles as your glass, so you can blend and use.
There’s nothing like homemade ice cream. We haven’t tested this 2-liter model, but I’ve used a smaller version, and it’s fantastic. Especially fun if you have kids who can create their own creative ice cream flavors.
