That’s three straight wins for Fingal’s cave
Ali Fyfe’s Alifyfe Racing’s Fingal Cave keep running. 3-year-old child, daughter of Carpe Diem won her third race without losing, winning her third race at Racecourse Saratoga July 29 is 3 3/4 the length.
Fingal Cave, bred in New York by Chester and Mary Broman, won the first time in the open company and about two turns, covering 1 1/8 mile in 1:50.97.
In the first three starts, Fingal’s Cave won a total of 21 1/4 lengths.
“She’s okay,” coach David Donk said. “I’m not surprised about the first two wins because of the competition. There was much better competition today. I have a lot of respect for Brad’s horse.”
That would be Gary and Mary West’s Sign , who beat coach Brad Cox 6-5. Fingal Cave, who is ridden by Jose Ortiz, is 7-5. Curragh’s Barn Add second with Insignia in third.
“She was a nice person,” said Donk. “We’ll learn a little bit about how good she is.”
The next step for Fingal’s Cave will be against the state hybrids in the $200,000 Fleet Indian Stocks on August 26 at 1 1/8 mile range.
