Targeted diesel subsidy – applicants can choose SKDS 2.0 or Budi Madani, not both: KPDN Minister
Candidates wish to receive diesel subsidies Applicable to subsidized diesel control system 2.0 (SKDS 2.0) or Budi Madanibut not both, Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Minister Datuk Armizan Mohd Ali has said, reported Star.
The minister said SKDS 2.0 applies to companies, while the Budi Madani program is for farmers, smallholders and others.
“They can only choose one. We observed that there are farmers or small business households without companies. Therefore, we will have to help them through the Budi Madani program,” Armizan said, adding that more detailed information about Budi Madani will be announced by the Ministry of Finance, while SKDS 2.0 by the Ministry of Internal Trade location and living expenses.
The types of vehicles approved to receive diesel subsidies under the SKDS program were decided by an inter-ministerial committee that also involved associations and stakeholders, the report quoted Armizan as saying.
The minister added that the criteria of vehicles selected to receive diesel subsidies through the SKDS program lean towards those in the logistics sector or those that provide essential services to consumers.
The The SKDS 2.0 program started in March this year involving five petroleum companies and nine types of vehicles, of which the former included issue 90,000 fleet cards to qualified transport companies earlier this week.
Meanwhile, the Madani, or Budi Madani, subsidy support program for private owners of diesel vehicles and small agricultural producers in Peninsular Malaysia was also announced. Budi Madani application website opens from Tuesday.
