Suzuki Jimny is transformed into a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen in Japan
The most interesting custom model afterward Mercedes-Benz G-Class not a G-Class at all, but rather a suzuki jimmy equipped to look like the iconic Mercedes-Benz all-terrain vehicle. Japanese auto tuning company DAMD calls the product of his custom Jimny body kit “Little G,” as a nod to Mercedes G-Wagen inspired it.
And since Mercedes-Benz WOOD Grade long unavailable as a new two-door model in the US, which makes the custom Jimny one of the prettiest small SUVs available today. The downside, of course, is the custom work and “Little G” rear kit sold only in Japan, where suzuki jimmy the same is also on sale.
DAMD originally debuted its custom Jimny models at Tokyo Auto Salon in 2019. The company introduced “Little G” and “Little D”, another customized template that turns Jimny become a small Land Rover Defender like we used to know it. Again, with two doors, this is objectively the best body style for hatchbacks, trucks and SUVs – I’ll reject any argument to the contrary, thanks.
The Land Rover Defender 90 still alive and well, but two doors Mercedes Benz G-Wages is not easy to find. Not new, anyway. So DAMD designed the small G body kit to keep the magic of the classic German off-roader alive in Japan. The set is slightly updated this year and it will be on display at the DAMD show in Tokyo Auto Salon 2023 as car clock report (link in Japanese).
The new body kit will come in three versions called the small G Advance, the small traditional G and the small G Aventura. The sporty Advance model looks like a G-Class AMG, while the Traditional and Aventura models look more like normal off-roaders. The yellow Traditional model makes the best impression of MB.
The kit comes with almost everything needed to transform Jimny, including installation, parts, paint and even wheels. Not to mention the terrain improvements, but the Jimny is already a capable trail machine, so that’s okay.
The previous full version of the small G kit cost Yên310,000 before tax, or about $2,368 at current exchange rates. The Suzuki Jimny itself starts at around 1,555,400 yen (before tax) in Japan, or $11,882 for a manual transmission model.
If the new small G body kit starts at about the same price as the older ones, that would put the price of a miniature G-Wagen starting at around $14,250. It’s a hell deal for a Japanese Jimny doppelgänger of Deutschland’s iconic 4X4.
